It is getting around that time to start thinking about Christmas presents for those special people in your life. I love homemade gifts because they feel like the people took time to make you something special. These are not only great to because they can be used for more than just Christmas time but anytime of the year. Coasters have many uses as well. If you are making these, you can use anything as the paper part of them, I just love maps and traveling.

Materials Needed:

Coasters (sandstone coasters work particularly well because of their satisfying heft)
Map or other decorative paper
File folder or cardboard for template
Scissors
Mod Podge
Foam brush

Instructions:

1. Turn coaster upside down on file folder and trace. Cut out template.
2. Trace template onto decorative paper and cut out.
3. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to coaster and back of paper. Adhere paper to coaster and press out bubbles, starting at the center and working outward.
4. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to top of papered coaster. Let dry.

What a great idea. I have a friend who loves travelling and read maps like other people read books. I always have difficulty finding gifts for him, but I know he would really like these.
